Decathlon is investing €38 million in the renovation of more than 70 stores in Spain. The company describes the investment as aligning with the global strategy it adopted last year, with its change in the company image, elevation of the customer experience, digital transformation and renewed commitment to circularity and sustainability.

The new store layout will have zones specialized by sport and offer “circular services,” such as the repurchase of used sporting goods (the Second Life program), subscription rentals and workshops for repair and maintenance. On the digital side, Decathlon has begun to use electronic product tags in all stores.

Renovations are starting at 15 stores in the autonomous community of Madrid and at nine in the Barcelona province. There are plans for a new store in Adeje, Tenerife, and for an expansion of the store in Granada.
