American athletic retailer Foot Locker will open its first brick-and-mortar store in India at the Nexus Select CityWalk Mall in Saket, New Delhi. The outlet is currently being fitted out. Foot Locker is entering India in partnership with Mumbai-based footwear firm Metro Brands Ltd. (MBL), with which it has agreed on an exclusive multi-decade licensing agreement.
MBL will own and operate Foot Locker stores in India. According to India Retailing, MBL plans to launch between two and six Foot Locker stores in India this year in two to three cities.
While MBL opens physical Foot Locker stores in the country, Nykaa Fashion will serve as the American retailer’s exclusive e-commerce partner. Nykaa Fashion will operate Foot Locker’s India website and sell its merchandise on Nykaa’s existing e-commerce platforms.
