Returning to the game of golf after recovering from a knee injury, Tiger Woods wore the prototype of a new golf shoe developed on the basis of the Nike Free concept at this week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational tournament. Designed to mimic and conform to the natural motion of the foot, coupled with the protection and traction of a lightweight performance shoe, the concept has already been adopted by Nike in other categories such as running. According to Nike Golf, the shoe provides for greater stability in addressing the ball and for more power to be released through the swing rather than the body. The golf shoe also has a half heel counter for greater lateral stability.
