Rolf Schmid is again the president of the European Outdoor Group, which has decided to expand the membership to retailers. Schmid, the president of the Mammut Sports Group, was one of the founders of the EOG 11 years ago, and he served as its president for the first six years. He takes the place of David Udberg, who is retiring. The EOG's board had invited another one of its founders, Bernd Kuhlmann, to be the president, but he declined because he has also retired after developing Deuter as a leading outdoor brand (more in The Outdoor Industry Compass, a sister publication of SGI Europe).
