After laying off 131 employees in France in order to return to profitability, the Rossignol Group has decided to double to 40 the number of additional employees being recruited at its ski factory in Sallanches for the production of junior skis.
The French group had originally indicated that it wanted to hire only 20 more people at the factory after repatriating the manufacture of 60,000 pairs a year of junior skis from China. One of the goals of the new strategy is to limit the use of temporary workers at peak times. Instead, Rossignol wants 30 of the 40 new employees to work on its ski production only from April to September. It is looking in particular for people who work in the ski resorts during the colder months.
Rossignol had originally announced the elimination of 231 jobs, but it finally settled for only 131 layoffs. The company points out that 110 of them have already found a new job.
