RTE, a Portuguese bike manufacturer that works only for Decathlon, operating the biggest European bicycle assembly plant in Europe, has announced that it will open a bike manufacturing facility in Poland in 2021. The group already makes between 1.2 and 1.4 million units a year for Decathlon in Portugal. The management said the new facility in Poland will allow it to get closer to market for Decathlon, as the leading French-based sports retailer is rapidly expanding in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Hungary. RTE is also looking to support Decathlon's more developed omni-channel strategy in these countries with the new Polish facility, which will be located near Brze?? Kujawski and will require an investment of 80 million zlotys (€18.6m-$21.1m). When completed, it will be able to produce 500,000 bikes annually for Decathlon.
