Ryan Gellert has been promoted brand president of Black Diamond, effective Jan. 2 of next year. He succeeds Peter Metcalf, who continues to be chief executive and president of the holding company, Black Diamond Inc., which also runs the Gregory backpack brand since last year's merger of the two firms. Gellert joined Black Diamond Equipment in 1998 and has held various positions including the management of its operations in Asia. The company emphasizes its consistency in leadership, with Gellert being just the second chief of Black Diamond since its beginnings in 1989.
