Sabrina Ionescu’s Unicorn sock with Dri-FIT ADV

Nike has unveiled Sabrina Ionescu as its newest signature athlete, continuing to follow through on its self-imposed commitment to develop the next generation of basketball players and advance the game both on and off the court.

Ionescu is the first women’s basketball player to release a unisex signature collection with Nike. “We are thrilled she will lead the charge with us and continue to change the scope of the game for future generations,” said Kerry Sobol, VP global women’s team and organized sports. Ionescu played an active role in the development of her signature collection and joins the growing team of women who have worked with Nike to develop signature collections with deeper meaning, including Serena Williams, Megan Rapinoe and Naomi Osaka.

Inspired by Ionescu’s national heritage, the intricate embroidery patterns on the Sabrina 1 forefoot and eye-stays pay homage to traditional Romanian art and architecture. With a focus on gender-neutral performance and lifestyle pieces, Ionescu’s first adult-size apparel collection launches and includes a hoodie, T-shirts, shorts and a shoulder bag. A special innovation can be found in one of the most important pieces of equipment for basketball players: The socks. The Nike Unicorn sock is the first Nike sock to feature Dri-FIT ADV materials, a technology used in Nike’s most advanced apparel collections. The sock is made from at least 80 percent recycled materials and is designed to provide cushioning, compression, traction and Achilles tendon support for explosive movement.

The Sabrina 1 and Signature apparel collection will be available later this summer on nike.com and at select retailers.
