Safilo Group has reported a low single-digit increase for Smith Sports Optics, with strong sales in a declining North American snow sports market for its products. The parent company said that Smith is also on track in its core products in Europe, but its position in eyewear needs improvement. The brand will expand use of its ChromaPro technology from snow goggles to reach a wider consumer base and grow in e-commerce. In Europe, it will focus on France and Spain, aided by its local brand ambassadors. In North America, it will expand its successful bike business while continuing to build up its leading market share in snow goggles and helmets. The brand has just launched a specific cycling goggle for mountain biking, the Squad MTB, selling in Europe for €80.
