British sportswear brand Samurai has chosen Dutch logistics company Bleckmann as its partner for freight forwarding and cross-docking in Europe. Since an investment by Primosole Holdings in May 2021, Samurai has been on a journey to transform its business model from focusing exclusively on premium teamwear in the rugby and multisport sectors to offering DTC e-commerce-based and retail collections to become one of the leading sportswear brands for the rugby community and beyond. To achieve this goal, Samurai, founded in the mid-1990s, sees the partnership with Bleckmann as critical to helping the brand move forward in Europe by better serving its existing and future customers; initially in relation to its core B2B teamwear business, which primarily serves partners in Belgium, France, Italy and Ireland, and in a later phase to support DTC expansion on the continent. Bleckmann will handle all logistics from Samurai’s factories in the Far East to Rotterdam and then through its distribution center in Beveren-Leie, Belgium. In addition, Bleckmann will be the preferred freight forwarder for the U.K. to increase the security and traceability of Samurai’s shipments.
