Sarah Massey has been appointed managing director of the Local Operating Company (LOC) for England’s Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2025, which will be the tenth edition of the women’s RWC. The LOC is a joint venture between World Rugby and the Rugby Football Union (RFU), or England Rugby. Most recently, Massey led the Local Organizing Committee for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, hosted in the U.S. for the first time ever. She previously held other leadership roles in the sports industry, including events, marketing and strategy director at the International Hockey Federation (IHF) and general manager of the Manchester Commonwealth Games 2002, among others. Her recent appointment at RWC 2025 follows the announcement of Gill Whitehead as independent chair of the board of directors for the tournament. England’s RWC 2025 has significant backing from the U.K. Government and aims to become the biggest women’s RWC to date, World Rugby said in a statement.
