Scott Sports is warning consumers of the proliferation of fraudulent online stores, which typically offer promising discounts of up to 80 percent and more on Scott bikes. Consumers are often led to these sites by sponsored ads. The company is reminding buyers of the risk of making payments on these sites, with the possibility of never receiving the ordered goods. Scott has announced it is taking legal action against some of these fraudulent websites. Chasing fake accounts is not enough, explains Scott, as new domains are opened every week by simply changing URLs, while the websites' design and layout remain the same. Fraudulent websites look quite authentic at first sight. The potential risk can be detected by paying attention to the price – for instance, incredibly low prices for Scott bikes of up to 90 percent less are an indication for a fraudulent website, notes Scott. Another warning sign is the lack of distinction between bike models. Scott has explained it can only guarantee the originality of products purchased at an official Scott dealer. For this purpose, the brand's website (www.scott-sports.com) features the Scott Dealer Locator, with an overview of its official dealers.
