Scott Sports reported that thieves broke into the warehouse at its headquarters in Givisiez, Switzerland on Sunday, June 1 and stole 200 high-end bikes. It is the latest in a recent spate of burglaries that have affected bike manufacturers and retailers across the globe during the past few months. According to a news release from Scott, the perpetrators used highly sophisticated measures and managed to gain access to the warehouse, despite an active burglar alarm and without attracting attention. Once inside, they loaded up a large number of Model Year 2014 road and mountain bikes as well as several Model Year 2015 samples that have not yet been introduced to the market. The average retail price of the bikes was about CHF 4,500 (€3,690-$5,027). A truck was also stolen from a neighboring company, presumably to transport the bikes.
