Scott Sports, the Swiss company specializing in bicycles, winter sports and running products, has taken over Garmont USA, the North American distribution arm of the Italian ski and outdoor footwear group. Scott described the deal, which became effective yesterday, as a means to expand its product portfolio in North America. At the same time, Scott Sports also bought the Life-Link brand, specialist in backcountry travel gear, from Garmont. The Swiss group will develop Life-Link worldwide, and it will take over Garmont USA's distribution of the Italian brand in North America and Mexico, as well as the distribution of Bridgedale socks in the U.S. market.
