Sector 9, the skateboard manufacturer, and its Gullwing skateboard trucks brand are now under the wing of Billabong. The acquisition should permit Sector 9, based in California, to maintain its leadership in the American market and expand worldwide under the guidance of its new owner. Sector 9, with a vertical business model, has emerged as a leader in the manufacture of skate longboards. Design, manufacturing and distribution are all based in San Diego. Its revenues come mainly from skateboard hardgoods sales, and it also has an emerging apparel line.
