Shaun White, the 21-year-old snowboarder and skateboarder who was a gold medalist in the 2006 Winter Olympics, has secured a new 10-year partnership with Burton. White has been sponsored by Burton since he was 7 and turned professional at the age of 13. Under the new partnership deal, he will continue to ride for Burton’s global team and assist the company in expanding its signature White collection of hardgoods and outerwear. The White line was launched in 2004 and will be broadened next year to include snowboarding outerwear for women. White and Burton also intend to develop a product team in Irvine, California, that would be led by White’s brother, Jesse, who collaborates on products. The aim would be to develop new snowboarding products for young people. White, who began skateboarding in 2003, is also sponsored by Red Bull, HP, Oakley and Target Stores.
