Shimano Europe has announced the signing of a deal for the acquisition of Lazer Sport, the Belgian helmet company. The two companies expect to close the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, in the second half of the year. Lazer, founded in 1919, designs, manufactures and markets its protective headwear products for cycling, leisure and winter sports in more than 50 countries. The acquisition is supposed to complement Shimano's own clothing, footwear and eyewear products, to bring a complete top-to-toe line up for the bike user. Under the terms of the agreement, Lazer staff will remain with the company at its base in Antwerp, Belgium.
