Six golf vendors have taken joint legal action against websites in the U.S. that mainly target the state of Florida. The brands or companies that appear as plaintiffs in this U.S. federal lawsuit, filed in Miami, are Ping, TaylorMade, Acushnet, SRI Sports, Cleveland and Callaway. The defendants are more than 50 web-based shops such as wholesalegolfplace.com, golfbestwholesale.com and others. Many are based in China and other countries outside the U.S. The plaintiffs call their counterfeit actions purely illegal, infringing the intellectual property rights of the brands involved. They claim that the infringement is “destroying” the goodwill associated with their “famous names and trademarks.”
