Skechers has announced that it obtained a major victory in a patent lawsuit related to its lighted footwear. The Cancaribe Limited vs. Cobra International lawsuit, filed in 2007, involved allegations by Cobra International alleging that the circuit used in Skechers' lighted footwear infringed on Cobra's patent on sequential lighting. On June 6, Cobra and Skechers entered into a settlement agreement, with Cobra agreeing to dismiss its lawsuit against Skechers with prejudice and to release all claims. Skechers did not pay any money and is free to continue using its lighted footwear technology without any changes and without any payment or obligations to Cobra.
