Snowleader, a leading online retailer of outdoor and snow sports products based in the Savoy region of France, has moved to a larger, eco-friendly office of 3,000 square meters at Epargny, near Annecy, while inaugurating a new and bigger automated warehouse at a different site further away at Versoud. The two locations currently employ 60 and 90 people, respectively.
The two facilities were previously housed in the same premises at Chavanod. The two moves follow an investment of €25 million intended to support the company’s growth and its efforts to expand abroad. It is aiming to reach a turnover of €100 million by 2025.
The new warehouse, which occupies the premises of a former Caterpillar facility, measures 25,000 square meters, compared with 6,000 sqm. at its previous location next to the former headquarters. Its staff is set to grow to 250 people by 2025. The use of an AutoStore solution supplied by Dematic is designed to deal with peak times and to ensure next-day deliveries to most of Snowleader’s European customers.
Founded in 2008 by Thomas Rouault, who continues to run the company, Snowleader says it has been growing at a double-digit rate since the beginning. According to sport-guide.com, it is projecting revenues of €55 million for the financial year ending in February 2022, with about half of the turnover being generated outside France. In addition to its website, which features about 20,000 items, it operates three physical stores in Annecy, Chamonix and Lyon.
For Black Friday, Snowleader has launched for the eighth year in a row a “White Week-End,” offering a 20 percent discount on all the products on its website through Monday, Nov. 29. For the second time, the company will give €15 to the Snowleader Foundation for any purchase of €99 or more. Last year, the foundation made a first donation of €150,000 to finance actions that would preserve the environment and help young people have access to mountain activities.
