Speedo has launched Eco, a swimwear collection that contains up to 82 percent recycled materials. The collection expands Speedo’s eco-friendly offering with the introduction of two new fabrics made from recycled yarn, Eco Endurance Plus and Eco Endurabrite.
Eco Endurabrite is made from 82 percent recycled plastic bottles and marine debris. Speedo says the new material has better chlorine resistance, so swimwear fits longer and feels fresher. Speedo’s fashionable and practical swimwear for spring/summer 2022 incorporates Eco Endurabrite fabric, which features a trendy animal print on long-sleeve paddle suits and two-pieces.
Eco Endurance Plus, an evolution of Speedo’s Eco Endurance fabric that now contains 53 percent recycled polyester, was used on other styles in the SS22 collection. This includes some of Speedo’s most popular fitness lines, as well as the Medallist suit.
The changes to the production and design of Speedo’s iconic swimsuit have kept nearly 27,000 yards of fabric out of landfills. This is part of the company’s goal to achieve a net-zero footprint by 2030.
