Speedo's new fashion collaboration with the ethical designers From Somewhere has been launched, with dresses styled after the 1950s and made from surplus stock of the LZR Racer swimsuit, which has been banned by Fina, the international authority for competitive swimming. The compa ny says the dresses can be worn on the beach or at a party. After a preview last September at the London Fashion Week, the line was available at retail last week in Selfridges stores. Next week the dresses will go on sale at Yoox.com, the e-tailer that is the exclusive online retail partner of Speedo. The collection will be featured as part of the “Yooxygen” part of the site, a section dedicated to eco-friendly products. Besides the wider ranger, two styles will be available only at Selfridges, and another two styles only at Yoox. Speedo was left with a surplus of suits after Fina ruled that the LZR Racer was not allowed in competitions. The From Somewhere With Speedo collection will also be available at Hallelujah in Brussels, and in Tokyo's Beams outlet.
