The expansion of strategic focus areas and the further development of logistics and sustainability topics were the focus of the recent Sport 2000 Austria general meeting. For the calendar year 2022, Sport 2000 Austria continues to expect a sales increase of around nine percent. However, the board is cautious with its future prognosis: “The effects of inflation and price increases are being felt more and more in all retail sectors. It is, therefore, difficult at present to assess the specific impact of the price increases on consumers’ purchasing mood,” says Dr. Holger Schwarting, head of Sport 2000 Austria. “In the interests of sustainability and in response to energy prices, we have developed our own energy concept. As a next step, we set an objective to evaluate previous processes in the company and establish energy consumption reduction measures.”

For the future, strategic priorities are to strengthen the Sport 2000 brand in Austria, promote the specialized Profi concepts, optimize purchasing, expand strategic partnerships with suppliers and increase growth. The buying group’s Sport 2000 Profi concept has seen the opening of 20 more specialized stores in Austria. Overall, 239 retailers are part of the group, running 402 shops all over Austria.

In the course of the annual general meeting, Alexander Etz was elected to the board of Sport 2000 Austria for another three years.
