Sport-Fachhandel, the German trade publication, reports that Blue Tomato intends to open six new stores across Europe this year. The Austrian specialty retailer of board sports gear has not named the locations except for the two new stores to be opened in Germany in Stuttgart and Hamburg. The company already opened three stores in Germany last autumn, two in Munich and one in Rosenheim. In 2012, Blue Tomato was acquired by Zumiez, the U.S. retailer specializing in action sports. Last year, the chain managed to lift its total sales, partly due to the acquisition in Austria, by 20.4 percent to $669.4 million.
