Sport Partner reports that Daka Sport, a leading Dutch sports retailer, is taking over Intersport Wim Jaquet Sports, a store of 3,500 square meters in Amersfoort, in the center of the Netherlands. Well known around the country for its assortment of winter sports equipment, the store was established by the late Wim Jaquet more than six decades ago and run by his son, an enthusiastic ski racer. The takeover expands the Rotterdam-based retailer to 14 locations trading as Intersport, Daka and Daka Sport, and it brings the chain closer to national coverage. The Dutch publication adds that the acquisition was already in the works before Peter Dankaart, the founder of Daka, died in July.
