Sportler, the big Italian sporting goods retailer, has acquired Bergzeit (“time for the mountains”), a German online retailer trading under bergzeit.de plus two brick-and-mortar stores in southern Germany. The transaction adds an annual turnover of more than €10 million, which is above Sportler's own internet sales. Sportler has been active on the internet for a couple of years, mainly in Italy, but has continued to focus on its 20 stores (more in The Outdoor Industry Compass).
