Sports Direct has unveiled plans for a gym chain in the U.K. that it said will revolutionize the market. The retailer plans to open 200 fitness clubs offering membership at the very affordable and unprecedented price of £5 (€6.3-$7.9) per month. Members will also have to pay a £10 (€12.6-$15.7) joining fee. The decision follows the recent acquisition by Sports Direct of 30 sites from the gym chain LA Fitness, which it is in the process of re-branding. The first gym is set to open on a 20,000-square-foot site in Aintree, close to the city of Liverpool, in mid-December, next to a new Sports Direct superstore. The second one will open in Keighley, in West Yorkshire.
