Sports Marketing Surveys (SMS) has found that the number of golf rounds played in the U.K. increased by 3.5 percent last year compared with 2013 and by 1.4 percent against 2012. The trend was highlighted in the latest edition of the research company's Golf Rounds Played study. The rise was partly attributed to the above average temperatures in the last quarter, leading to an increase of 4.5 percent in rounds played in these three months. Scotland was the only part of the country where the number of rounds played diminished in October, but the decline came to an end in November when Scotland reported a sharp increase as well as all regions in England and Wales. The number of rounds played had already jumped by 5.3 percent in the third quarter compared with the same period in 2013.
