Sports Trade & Marketing International (SMTI) welcomes a new partner to the international Geneva-based buying group. The newest member is SportXX, the Swiss specialty chain owned by Migros, Switzerland's large retail cooperative. The turnover of SportXX, including its Outdoor by SportXX specialty shops, amounted to the equivalent of €226 million last year. The 54 SportXX outlets are joining an organization that comprises more than 1,300 points of sale in 24 countries, with a combined turnover exceeding €2 billion. The founding members of SMTI are the French Groupe Go Sport and Hervis, the big international price-oriented chain based Austria. They were successively joined by the French and Spanish branches of the Twinner buying group as well as by Forum Sport, a Spanish chain with a focus on the northern part of the country.
