SportScheck will move out of its birthpace in Munich's Sendlinger Strasse. The leasing contract for the building, still owned – at least partially – by the Scheck family, is running out in 2013. SportScheck will move to a very prominent location in Neuhauser Strasse, close to Karlsplatz, spreading over more than 10,000 square meters. It will fill a hole at the place where the building of Karstadt am Dom (“at the cathedral”) is being knocked down. The old SportScheck store was always literally behind its competitor Schuster, better placed next to Marienplatz, in terms of location. Competition will increase in early March when Globetrotter opens its long expected Munich store just a 10-minute walk away from both Schuster and the current SportScheck.
