SportScheck will open a new store of 2,500 square meters in Mönchengladbach on March 26, but it will shut down its store in Essen early next year, pulling away from the Ruhr area. With its 5,500 square meters, the store in Essen was just too big. The company hopes that its customers will buy from SportScheck online in the future or visit its stores in neighboring regions. The German sports retailer will continue to sponsor the local marathon together with BMW on Sept. 27.
