Sportshoes.com, an online sports footwear retailer based in Yorkshire, has been ranked among the fastest-growing mid-market private companies in the U.K. The retailer is 30th in the ranking compiled by Investec, the banking and asset management group, based on annual percentage turnover growth over four years among companies with a turnover of £10 million (€13.9m-$15.8m) to £200 million (€278.9m-$316.6m). Sportshoes.com reportedly reached a turnover of £33.5 million (€46.7m-$53.0m) in 2014. Its compound average growth rate for the four years amounted to 45 percent. Sportsshoes.com was established by Bruce Bannister, a former professional football player. It started as a store in Bradford in 1982, but the store was closed three years ago and the business has been focusing entirely on online retailing.
