Swedish sporting goods retailers experienced particularly strong growth of 14.6 percent in November as compared to the same month earlier, according to the HUI market research institute. The growth was impressive as it came on top of an 8.5 percent increase during the same month in 2015. The big increase is attributed to a combination of abundant snow and cold weather in much of the country at the beginning of November and the fact that Black Friday occurred on the same day that most salaries were paid. Many retailers extended their Black Friday promotions to the whole weekend. The November score contributed to a 6.0 percent rise in the market for the first 11 months of 2016.
