The 16th edition of the Eurosima Surf Summit, which took place in Seignosse, France on Oct. 5-6, welcomed more than 300 professionals from the industry. Eurosima is the association of European action sports manufacturers. Among the speakers at the annual action sports conference was Alexandre Mulliez, the 30-year-old innovation and marketing director at Auchan, who focused on disruptive management. Frédéric Tain, the chief editor of Sport Guide, gave the closing presentation of the summit, sharing data and figures on sports retail with the audience. The event hosted the annual Eurosima Surf Industry Awards, sponsoring two start-ups: WeeSurf and ByTheWave. WeeSurf is the developer of a mobile application for a surfing weather forecast that is said to provide precise surfing conditions worldwide with up to 1km precision. ByTheWave has launched a take-off assistance device to help surfers learn how to take the wave at the right time. Both winners will enjoy custom assistance and support for a year. Notox was awarded the 2017 Innovation of the Year Award. The brand was recognized in particular for its “Korko,” a new cork-based surfboard.
