The Adizero 99g was launched by Adidas last month as the world's lightest football boot. The retail launch consisted of just 299 pairs of men's shoes in size 9, as part of the Limited Collection series of super-small drops. With about half the weight of standard football cleats and less than most mobile phones, the product is issued from the Adidas brand's innovation lab. It has been in the works for nearly four years. The upper is made of woven polyester mesh while the 1 mm outsole is composed of polyamide. Other parts of the boot have been stripped bare, with part of the heel removed. Soccerbible describes the boot as “ridiculously light” and “unusual to touch.” It has been tested by such players as Karim Benzema and David Alaba.
