The Athlete’s Foot has announced the establishment of its new community engagement initiative in EMEA: the Impact Council. The Council will serve as a collaborative space to foster ideas, identify new avenues for community betterment, and provide a rotating “seat” representing initiatives chosen or highlighted by the Council every half-year.

The Council’s mission is to empower local communities across the EMEA region through a series of initiatives and outreach programs, focused on the key pillars of social justice, culture, and environment. The creation of the EMEA Impact Council forms part of the footwear and lifestyle chain’s Community Impact Program, which aims to uplift neighborhoods by supporting and cultivating a range of meaningful initiatives, in the Netherlands, Greece, Kuwait, Denmark, Algeria and throughout the EMEA region.

The Athlete’s Foot has already named two members of the EMEA Impact Council, who are both recognized for their work with underserved communities: Diro Oye and Merida Miller.

Oye, CEO and founder of Youth Empowerment Organization 20/20 Change – now reimagined as 20/20 Levels – has empowered over 1,700 young people from diverse backgrounds through various programs. Duro leads the recruitment and consultancy arm of the charity, which aims to impact 1 billion lives globally, as well as serving on various boards and producing impactful documentaries.

Miller, founder and CEO of Project Fearless, will be representing Female Empowerment. Project Fearless provides a supportive environment where girls and non-binary youth can play freely, celebrate each other’s achievements, and build resilience and self-confidence.

Additional representative seats will come in the next few weeks.
