The Brazilian sporting goods market increased by 6.7 percent to 15.1 billion reais (€3,693.7m-$3,974.6m) in 2014, according to a local market research company, Iemi, which studies mainly the footwear and apparel segments. The growth is expected to soften to 2.5 percent this year. About one-third of the turnover is being realized by the nine major national and international brands, indicates Apice, the national sporting goods industry association.
