The British Halfords Group has acquired the Boardman bike business launched by Chris Boardman, former Olympic and Tour de France cyclist. Halfords already has an exclusivity deal to sell the Boardman Performance Series in the U.K. and Ireland while the Boardman Elite Series is sold at selected independent cycling retailers in the U.K. and the U.S. Both ranges are also sold in other countries by distributors and retailers such as Rebel Sports Group, Integrated Riding and Biken. Boardman Bikes will remain a stand-alone entity within the Halfords group and continue to be led by Andy Smallwood, managing director, and Chris Boardman as chairman and design director. Athletes who have ridden Boardman bikes include Nicole Cooke, Britain's first Olympic road-racing champion, Olympic triathletes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, and Pete Jacobs, Ironman triathlon world champion.
