The diving segment of Johnson Outdoors turned around to an operating profit of $1.2 million in the first quarter last Dec. 31 from a $84,000 loss in the year-earlier period, while sales grew by 4.6 percent to $19.4 million in dollars despite a currency translation loss of 3 percent. Outdoor sales rose by 19.3 per,cent to $10.5 million. Total revenues improved by 11.7 percent to $78.7 million and the company's net loss declined to $1.2 million from $4.3 million.
