The European Surf Industry Manufacturers Association, EuroSIMA, recently held its Source European Snowboarding Industry Forum in St. Anton, Austria, with almost 70 international participants at the two-day seminar. To cap the event, EuroSIMA held its fifth annual Snowball, the party for the snowboard industry that also helps environmental charities. At the Snowball, the organization handed out its European Snowboard Industry Awards. Source magazine, one of the partners of the forum, named Evoc Sports the brand of the year for its back protector system, which meets safety standards for motorcycling. Ispo, another partner, chose the Thirtytwo Reppin hoody as the product innovation of the year with its Sti Repel technology, which protects against liquids and dirt without compromising comfort. And EuroSIMA's Mountain Divisions Committee selected Hermann Kapferer, the general manager of Burton Europe, to receive its lifetime achievement award. He's been with Burton Europe since it started up in 1985 and was praised for his efforts to promote snowboarding.
