The executive committee of Fifa has decided to publish a redacted version of Michael Garcia's investigative report into alleged corruption in the bidding process for the World Cup. The decision was taken a few days after Garcia resigned from his mission, citing a lack of transparency at Fifa. The release of the report will be made after the completion of an investigation into the roles of five individuals in the bidding. One of them is Franz Beckenbauer, the former German football champion. Fifa confirmed that there will be no change in the venues chosen for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. It hopes that the bidding process can be improved for the subsequent events.
