The Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry, Fesi, has signed a protocol of agreement with ACES Europe to cooperate in the promotion of physical activity, sports participation and the sports culture across Europe, encouraging synergies and common projects and developing new links with institutions. A representative of Fesi will participate in the selection of the European Capital of Sport, the European City and Community of Sport and the European Town of Sports. About 100 mayors compete every year for one of the titles, based on the investments that they make in the sport. ACES stands for Association of European Capitals of Sport, a 15-year-old organization run by a former Italy physical education teacher, Gian Francesco Lupattelli.
