The Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (Fesi) is urging fast ratification, by September at the latest, of the planned Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Vietnam. It points out that Fesi members are already on the ground to address the remaining concerns about labor conditions in Vietnam, working with local non-governmental organizations and urging the local government to ratify the International Labor Organization's convention within a reasonable timeframe. The FTA has been delayed by an opinion given by the European Court of Justice on another FTA between the EU and Singapore, which would allow parts of it to be ratified by the EU alone.
