The Finnish Kesko group reports a 2.0 percent increase to €43 million for the net revenues from its Intersport operations in the third quarter, but the business was down by 0.4 percent to €118 million for the first nine months of this year. Kesko's acquisition of an 80 percent stake in the Russian Intersport operations was sealed on Aug. 24. By Sept. 30, its Russian joint venture with Melovast had acquired 34 Intersport stores, and their number is expected to grow to 36 by the end of this year. As previously reported, Kesko plans to at least double the number of Kesko stores in Russia by the end of 2015.
