The first negative winter sales results in years have caused an increase in bankruptcies among Norwegian sporting goods retailers. A drop in sales of about 10 percent in the last quarter of 2011 was the last straw for many sport retailers across the country. In the last three and a half months, 18 sport retailers have filed for bankruptcy. In 2011 the sporting goods industry accounted for 4.3 of the total retail bankruptcies in Norway.
