The fitness division of Brunswick Corp., which includes Life Fitness, Cybex, Hammer Strength, Indoor Cycling and SciFit, reported flat sales of $1,038.3 million for the 2018 financial year, just as the group is gearing up to spin it off by the end of the present quarter, or soon thereafter. In the fourth quarter ended on Dec. 31, the division's revenues fell by 6 percent to $287.7 million, but sales outside the U.S. increased by one percent, representing 49 percent of the total turnover. The division suffered a 65 percent decline in operating earnings to $22.4 million for the year, largely due to extraordinary items. In the fourth quarter, it booked an operating loss of $2.7 million after extraordinary charges of $23.8 million. They included restructuring, exit, integration and impairment charges of $15.2 million, most of which were due to a further impairment of the Cybex brand name.
