The general assembly of Assosport, the Italian sporting goods industry association, decided to extend Luca Businaro's mandate as its president through to the end of 2017. Businaro is also currently the president of Fesi, the federation of the European sporting goods industry. Businaro told the assembly that the association is working on the promotion of the Italian sporting goods industry's exports, which rose by 9.77 percent in 2015 and by a further 6.20 percent in the first three months of this year. The 130 companies that belong to Assosport had a total turnover of €4.5 billion last year, 2.6 percent more than in 2014. It represented about 60 percent of the sales generated by the 900 Italian firms that produce sporting goods.
