The Hub is the latest trade event for young fashion to hit the Asian scene, after the launch of Novomania in Shanghai in 2010 and Chic Young Blood in Beijing the following year. The first Asian edition of The Hub will take place in Hong Kong, which is regarded as Asia's business “hub,” on Aug. 28-29, 2013. Unlike Chic Young Blood and Novomania, The Hub has opted to host shows on a bi-annual basis, in February and August. Behind the event are Richard Hobbs and Peter Caplowe, who created Entrepot Asia two years ago, a consulting company helping fashion brands to manage their development in China and Southeast Asia. The show, organized in partnership with the Asian subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt, will be separated into five different universes: Heritage for the brands with a long history; Indigo for denim; Designers for creators, emerging brands and made-to-measure; Contemporary for lifestyle brands; and Street for streetwear and activewear. The organizers are expecting between 100 and 120 exhibitors to take part in the first edition of the trade show, which will be exclusively open to professionals. They plan to invite up to 1,500 buyers and 1,000 other vistors, including potential retail and distribution partners for foreign brands. Adidas Y-3, Barbour, Denim Design Lab, Nigel Hall and Matahari are among the names that have already confirmed their participation.
