The National Ski & Snowboard Retailers Association (NSSRA) in the U.S. is unhappy with the dates chosen for the SIA Snow Shows starting in 2013 planned by SnowSports Industries America. The 2013 show is scheduled for Jan. 12-15, two weeks earlier than usual, and following shows will also be held mid-month. The SIA said it chose the new dates after considering holidays and other trade events, such as Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and Ispo, as well as the Winter X Games. It also considered changes to production lead times and the industry's buy/sell cycle. The retailers group says that many of members are disappointed with the dates, which are more helpful to manufacturers than to retailers. The NSSRA's board is looking into other options.
