The NBA has appointed Ralph Rivera as its new managing director for Europe and the Middle East, effective Jan. 2, 2019. He replaces Ben Morel, who stepped down from the role in May to become the chief executive of Six Nations. Rivera was most recently managing director at Eurosport Digital with Discovery Communications. He had joined the Discovery group in 2016. Prior to that, he was director of BBC Digital for six years. He has also been the president of Major League Gaming, and has spent ten years at AOL as senior vice-president and general manager for games and international programming. Rivera will be based at the NBA's office in London. He will report to Mark Tatum, the league's deputy commissioner and chief operating officer.
